Brian Hiestand

Chief Investment Officer, 1693 Management Company

Brian Hiestand is the Chief Investment Officer for 1693 Management Company, a subsidiary of the William & Mary Foundation. Having joined the Foundation in 2005, he is responsible for overseeing the investment management functions for the endowment, including asset allocation and manager selection and review. Prior to joining William & Mary, Mr. Hiestand served as Director of Alternative Investments, Indiana University Foundation in where he launched their Alternative Investment Program; as well as Principal and Portfolio Manager at Harris Investment Management in Chicago. Additionally, He served as former Investment Committee Chair, Board of Trustees, Williamsburg Community Health Foundation and as an Advisory Board Member, Silvercrest Jefferson Fund. He was awarded the Institutional Investor Small Endowment Manager of the Year in 2010. In 2008, he was nominated for Non-Profit Investor of the year - Institutional Investor. He earned his B.S. and MBA from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio.
